What is it?
Advanced planting continues to evolve and develop as manufacturers adapt equipment to suit various conditions and market requirements. The PlantMax 3 is a mechanised planting unit that comprises a Ponsse Buffalo King forwarder as the base machine (210 kW) carrying the Plantma PlantMax 3 planter. The entire unit requires two operators: one for the base machine and one for the implement. The PlantMax 3 is the latest edition, following previous versions in the Brazilian market (Refer to PlantMax and PlantMax 2 for information about the latest versions).
How does it work?
The PlantMax 3 planter operates as a fully mechanised unit for forest planting, integrating soil preparation, fertilisation, seedling placement, irrigation with water or a combination of water and hydrogel, and pre-emergent herbicide application for weed control in a continuous process. This newest version can carry up to 30,000 seedlings, 2,400 litres of granular fertiliser, and 4,300 litres of water or a combination of water and hydrogel to establish a new forest plantation at a rate of 3,000 seedlings per hour. Both new subsoilers are designed for the Brazilian market, replacing the original Plantma disk trencher. They can reach depths of up to 60 cm, feature a V-shaped mouldboard to clear residues, and include a 2-disc harrow for finishing. Simultaneously, solid fertiliser is deposited into the subsoiled area via a tube connected to the subsoiler's shank at two depths – 70% of the dose up to 15-20 cm deep and 30% of the dose up to 50-60 cm deep.
